UBC is committed to supporting researchers by fostering excellence in Research Data Management (RDM).
The UBC Research Data Management Strategy Project and Steering Committee launched in September 2020 to develop an institutional RDM strategy that will enhance support for all researchers, while respecting discipline-specific requirements. The strategy is also intended to ensure alignment with the Tri-Agency Statement of Principles on Digital Data Management and compliance with the Tri-Agency Policy on Research Data Management.
The steering committee will draw on the earlier work conducted by a Research Data Management Task Force, which was created in 2017 as a joint collaboration between the Office of the CIO, UBC Library, and the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation. This task force established a roadmap to deliver an institutional RDM strategy and identified strategic commitments and goals based on the Tri-Agency Statement of Principles. The Task Force also provided input and discussed progress on the Tri-Agency Policy on Research Data Management with representatives of the Tri-Agencies and Portage in January 2018.
