Time: 1:00pm - 2:30pm
Presenter: Bronwyn Moore, Jeremy Buhler
Location: Online
The tidyverse is a collection of R packages designed for data science. All packages share an underlying design philosophy, grammar, and data structures. This workshop presents some of the major tidyverse packages. At the end of the workshop, you will:
- Know what the tidyverse is
- Understand the uses of data manipulation packages
- Know where to look for answers when manipulating your data in R
The workshop is 60 minutes long, followed by an optional 30-minute practice period to reinforce what you learned or consult with the instructors. Workshop materials are available at https://ubc-library-rc.github.io/intro_to_tidyverse/
To participate fully you will need to install the latest versions of R and RStudio on your computer before the workshop:
- Install R from https://cran.rstudio.com/
- Install RStudio from https://docs.posit.co/ide/user/download.html
About this workshop series
Introduction to the tidyverse R package is one of several R workshops offered by the UBC Library Research Commons. Each session introduces a particular task or application in R, followed by an optional practice period with support from the instructors. The goal of the series is to introduce participants to the data analysis and visualization potential of R and to encourage further self-paced exploration.
Other workshops in the series offered this term are:
- Data manipulation with dplyr, November 19, 1-2:30 pm
- Data visualization with ggplot2, December 3, 1-2:30 pm
